Committees
The majority of IPPSSA Executive members are elected to a one-year mandate every April. Each position comes with a broad range of responsibilities and tasks. Directors are appointed by the executive later in the month for specific duties, while the first year representatives are elected at the beginning of the Fall Semester.
VP of Finances
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee supports the VP Finance in their operations. The committee is there to offer support in the financial management of large-scale AÉÉIPPSSA events, the likes of MPSP, PCDP or the Academic Conference. Under the direction of the VP of Finance, committee members can be delegated the management of a budget for an event, the search for suppliers to evaluate different bids and so on. It offers an opportunity for committee members to get involved in student life while learning skills such as project management, teamwork, financial literacy and more.
VP of Social Affairs
Social Committee
The Social Affairs Committee helps to develop social events for students, including a couple core events. The first is 101 Week which helps to engage with first years who just arrived on campus and show them what IPPSSA is about! The second is the Social Science Ball which is an event for all students in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Normally taking place in March, SSB gives students a time to eat and dance the night away.

VP of Communications
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee supports the VP Comms with streamlining communication about the latest events to students via the IPPSSTAGRAM, website, and emails. There are a variety of roles to explore on the Committee, Social Media Administration, Graphic Design, Website Editing, Copywriting, Email Marketing, and Photography. If any of these roles interest you, consider applying to the committee!
VP of Internal Affairs
Clerk Committee
Your main role will be the taking of meeting minutes at executive meetings and General Assemblies. If the opportunity presents itself, it is possible that you will have the chance to help out with other administrative tasks such as inventory, an Annual Report and more! You will gain valuable experience in minute-taking, collaborating as a team and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
VP of Francophone Affairs
Francophone Committee
The Francophone Committee actively supports the VP Franco in fulfilling their responsibilities to promote and respect bilingualism within IPPSSA. Whether it's by translating internal documents, organizing events dedicated to the francophone community, or defending language rights, this committee brings together committed francophones and passionate francophiles alike. Together, they proudly work to strengthen and celebrate the presence of the French language at the heart of our association, affirming its essential role in all our initiatives.
VP of Academic Affairs (EIL)
International Studies Committee
The VP EIL committee usually consists of 3-4 students and will help the VP EIL in planning events such as the US Trip, Embassy visits, the Diplomatic Simulation, and the Academic Conference, and International Games Night. They engage specifically with EIL students, and - sometimes - with other academic committees (PAP & POL) vis-à-vis certain events (Diplomatic Simulation, Academic Conference). Students in this committee gain skills in event organizing, communication, and collaboration.

Committee
The Public Administration Committee works with the VP PAP to organize events in public policy and governance, including Public Policy Case Competition, Nous Partout, Professional Development Day, Networking on the Hill, and Academic Conference! Our events bring together a wide range of professionals, academics, and students on topics that seek to inform and benefit undergraduate students at uOttawa. PAP Committee is a wonderful way to get involved in student life, create connections with industry professionals, get tangible experience in academic and professional skills including public policy, event planning, project management, bilingual communication, and academic advocacy!

Political Science Committee
POL Committee comprises political science students to host events, such as presentation nights, academic conferences, and faculty events. They advocate on behalf of political science students to the faculty, including working on the program review, UOSU roundtable, and school council meetings. Students on this committee can gain a wide range of experience through event planning, advocacy, and community building!

VP of Equity
Equity Committee
The Equity committee supports the Vice-President of Equity in their duties within IPPSSA. The committee meets to discuss, create, and update IPPSSA's equity policies. The committee also runs equity events and audits IPPSSA events to ensure they are equitable and accessible for all. If you are interested in making sure IPPSSA is for all, consider applying to the committee!
Senior Year Representative
Internship Committee
The Internship Committee is responsible for running AÉÉIPPSSA’s Internship Program. The committee creates the application form, helps with promotion of the program and political office/organization outreach. The committee is responsible for reviewing applications and deciding which candidates are best suited for each internship opportunity. The committee will also aid students who were not accepted with information on how to improve their resume/application for the next round.
The Committee also prepares a brief report at the end of each year documenting the number of participating students and offices/organizations and proposes any suggestions for program improvement. At the end of the 4 month internship, the committee will host a social where interns can bond, share about their internship experience and provide input on how the committee can improve the program. The committee provides participants with skills in event planning, program implementation, communication and human resources.

Director of yPolitika
yPolitika Committee
yPolitika Committee (Editorial Team) operates the undergraduate student publication for AÉEIPPSSA. They screen, accept, and edit student submissions for publication on its website. yPolitika is also responsible for organizing events appropriate to its mandate, such as academic conferences and essay competitions. With AÉEIPPSSA, the publication works closely with the VP Communications and the VP Academics to increase student and faculty engagement with the publication. With yPolitika, students can learn about student-run publications, develop their creativity, writing, reading, and collaboration skills. Depending on the events hosted by yPolitika, they will also learn about event planning and promotion.
Director of MPSP
MPSP Committee
The MPSP Committee is a team of students tasked with organizing AÉÉIPPSSA’s yearly Model Parliament event! Lead by the MPSP Director and Governor General, it is tasked with organizing MPSP events, presiding over the House of Commons, supporting participants both in-person and online and ensuring that the event runs smoothly in all aspects.
MPSP 2024-2025’s committee is a twenty-person team dedicated not only to MPSP but its participants and how they can support its participants in all MPSP-related matters. Participants are invited to reach out to the MPSP Committee for any questions or advice through the email, website, or social media. The Committee Members will always be available to help to make participants' experiences as enjoyable as possible.
